Tensile Tests on Stainless Steels in Temperature Range

چکیده

In real conditions, austenitic stainless steels solidify in non equilibrium and a two phases microstructure of austenite and ferrite is formed 1 . The aim of this work was to investigate the behaviour of both phases at tensile testing, especially to find out an eventual difference in the relaxation of the deformation energy and the effect of the two phases microstructure in workability. To achieve these goals, it was necessary to determine also the effect of annealing temperature and time on the share and shape of both phases in the microstructure. For experimental work the industrial steels AISI 316L, SS2343, X2CrNiMo 17-12-3 and X2CrNiMo 18-14-3 were used. These steels have by prescribed chemical composition a similar contents of base elements and f.i. all four steels have a content of chromium in the range of 16,5 % to 18 %, nickel of 10 % and 13 % in molybdenum between 2 % and 3 %.

Determining the Hot Deformation Temperature Range of Medium Carbon Ni-Cr-Mo Low Alloy Steels using Hot Tensile and Hot Torsion Tests

The aim of this study was to investigate the suitable temperature range for hot deformation of three medium carbon Ni-Cr-Mo low alloy steels by hot tensile and hot torsion tests. Hot tensile tests were carried out in the te,prature range of 850-1150°C at a constant strain rate of 0.1 s-1 until fracture. Then, the tensile flow behavior, hot ductility and microstructural evolution of the steels w...

The High Temperature Tensile Properties of Ferritic-martensitic and Austenitic Steels after Irradiation in an 800 Mev Proton Beam

This study examines the effect of tensile test temperatures ranging from 50°C to 600°C on the tensile properties of a modified 9Cr-1Mo ferritic steel (T91) and a 316L stainless steel (SS) after high energy proton irradiation at about 35°C-67°C. After 1-3 dpa, the proton-irradiated T91 steel was tensile tested at temperatures from 50°C to 600°C. It was observed that the yield strength and ultima...

Low-Temperature Mechanical Behavior of Super Duplex Stainless Steel with Sigma Precipitation

Experimental studies in various aspects have to be conducted to maintain stable applications of super duplex stainless steels (SDSS) because the occurrence rate of sigma phase, variable temperature and growth direction of sigma phase can influence mechanical performances of SDSS. Tensile tests of precipitated SDSS were performed under various temperatures to analyze mechanical and morphological...

Thermography for Characterisation of Deformation Process in Stainless Steels

It is well known that during tensile testing, a part of the mechanical work done on the specimen is transformed into heat energy. The rate of rise and maximum temperature attained depends on the nature of material, its deformation behaviour and test conditions. This paper highlights the application of thermography for characterising various stages of tensile deformation in AISI type 316 stainle...
